Since 2020, 5N2 has been partnering with Starbucks to rescue food and provide it to those in need. Every Friday, through this initiative, 5N2 delivers vital support to community members at Progress Church, which has been receiving this assistance since January 2024. Volunteers at the church work tirelessly to ensure the food reaches those who need it most, with some food served directly to clients and the rest left on shelves and in fridges outside the church for anyone to access at any time.
Sue Reynolds, who benefits from the program, expresses her thanks: “This program has greatly assisted my family. Having grandchildren, particularly a grandson who has a hearty appetite, it’s been a challenge. Without this aid, it’s hard to imagine how we’d cope. It’s only been a month, but the support we’ve gotten is something I’m profoundly thankful for.”
Volunteers Novelette and Everton have seen the direct effects of their efforts. They recount a regular day: “On days such as this Friday, we witness a large turnout. Our schedule is to hand out food until approximately 1 or 1:30 PM. Should individuals not arrive on time, we set the food outside so they may help themselves as needed.”
The gratitude of the community is clear: “The bread and particularly the meat are highly appreciated. The kids adore the candies and cookies, especially the Pokémon-themed ones! Our efforts are also deeply valued by the elderly on limited incomes,” Everton noted.
5N2 and Progress Church persist in making a substantial impact within their community by offering essential support and demonstrating the strength of united action. In Sue’s words, “This assistance is deeply valued.” The community’s expressions of thanks and their stories highlight the vital role these initiatives play in fostering a compassionate and supportive atmosphere for everyone.
