Food insecurity is reaching crisis levels in Canada:
- In 2024, 1 in 4 people in the ten provinces lived in a food insecure household. That is about 10 million people, including 2.5 million children.
- In March, Canadians turned to community food support more than 2 million times in a single month, a 90 percent surge since 2019
- In Toronto, half of the people who rely on food support services report skipping meals to pay for essentials, and nearly 1 in 3 say they have gone an entire day without eating
